Hello, friend — welcome to my quasi-informal personal/professional page.
I'm deeply engaged in machine learning and data science, with a focus on transforming research into tangible solutions. My journey has been marked by product development and a science-driven approach. I'm passionate about solving complex technical challenges, particularly in ML/AI, distributed systems, and exploring the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) as autonomous agents for decision-making.
Currently, I lead BayJarvis Inc. as both co-founder and chief machine learning researcher and engineer, spearheading the development of advanced trading and property management autonomous agents. These systems go beyond mere algorithms, embodying intelligent entities that revolutionize traditional trading and investment strategies.
Prior to this, I was part of the pioneering team at Amazon, in both Ad Science and Ad Technology realms. At Amazon, I led initiatives that transformed the advertising ecosystem, enhancing how ads are delivered and experienced. My work included developing a predictive bidder that became crucial for ad recommendations, underpinning the seamless experience Amazon ads are known for. This role wasn't just about innovation; it was about certifying the reliability and scalability of solutions that millions rely on.
I've had the privilege of living in diverse cultures, from the vibrant streets of Taiwan to the tech heartbeat of the Bay Area. These experiences have enriched my approach to teamwork, allowing me to thrive in and contribute to diverse settings.

I extend my passion for technology and innovation through my work on open-source projects, evidenced by my Pypi packages such as nanoPPO, nanoDPO, and nChain. Each project embodies a piece of my expertise and my commitment to advancing the field. Furthermore, my GitHub repositories, bayjarvis and jamesliu, serve as a testament to my continuous exploration and contribution to software development and machine learning.
For those who wish to follow my journey and insights into technology, my thoughts are not confined to 280 characters. Dive deeper into my explorations and musings on my blog at blog.bayjarvis.com. And yes, for snippets and conversations, you can find me on Twitter.
Indeed, while some may critique the habit of overthinking, I stand by the belief that the pursuit of clarity and depth in understanding is what propels us forward. It's not just about thinking more; it's about thinking better.
